Originally reviewed as “Stunning”,"Brilliant" and “Five Star” - the evolution to the current model brings further benefits by subtle changes in the precision manufacturing process based on improvements available from new technology and investment. The FMJ still leads the pack.

The design is radical and user friendly. It is engineered on the basis of the feed back loop from constantly pushing World Record distances forward. There are over 27 complex carbon fibre patterns used in the construction – all wrapped up in 24 chevron 6.0 ballistic nylon, set in a special resin matrix.

This is all bonded together using Century’s high pressure curing system. The butt is parallel and ½” in diameter. This adds up to a superb long-range casting and monster specimen rod. We have worked closely with our ring manufacturers and invested in tooling to create our special size 50 SiC butt guide, lightweight size 40-16 inters and size16 tip guide.

The benefits are quicker tip recovery, better deconing of the line from the reel, reducing line slap resulting in extra distance. All without increasing weight! Measured casts up to 235 yards and fish to 70+. The tip is responsive and the whole rod subtly changes in action when deflected to absorb lunges.

Christian Baldermairs’s World Record 82lb from Raduta, Romania was taken on the SP design. The SP design has also achieved World Record distances using a fixed spool reel. A couple of simple facts that in combination add up to a very complex and satisfying design.

The evolved ringing pattern uses a size 50 SiC butt, features lightweight size 40-16 intermediates and 16 tip guide that are spaced for line deconing and distance. The rod blank is chevron wrapped in 6.0 ballistic nylon and the special resin matrix is consolidated under ultra high pressure in the autoclave for durability and a super dense wall. The Fat Boy Slim is Century’s ultra low diameter rod with a glorious sweeping parabolic curve that will tame and control. The design is incredibly complex to give the profile, action and weight that will appeal to the carp angler who does not need extreme range but wants the response and control element of his fishing totally sorted. The FBS has already seen extensive action and has hundreds of trophy fish to its credit. The over riding reports coming back from anglers is the fishing range of 140 metres on the higher test curve (3.50lb) is more than adequate and the action makes playing – perfect. The lower test curves are ideally suited to smaller venues where casts of 100m are typical. The FBS is capable of controlling the ferocious runs and imparts confidence throughout the battle. The diameter just above the reel seat is under 0.50” and this slices through the air during the cast.

The ColourMatic livery is subtle, understated and flips in sunlight between ebony bronze to green. Below the reel seat the special 2x2 woven carbon twill influences the action and resists torque, as does the GripFast handle. The New Century Speed carp rod is a well-proven tool with a fine pedigree. Frank Warwick and Danny Moeskops have been the primary field testers evaluating and refining the rods.The design concepts have been derived from the work we have pursued with Danny Moeskops - a passionate carp angler and the finest caster in the world and Frank Warwick - now recognised as the leading angler from the new generation of legends in the sport.

We have selected the best raw materials to balance the requirements for performance, low weight and diameter with a reliable ongoing supply. The architecture of the blank is a combination of machine cut cross ply 35gsm carbon, intermediate and high modulus carbon with a woven 1k-1k twill outer sheath. Century has optimised the carbon patterns to generate a classic mid to tip action that will assist in super smooth casts and effortless playability. The rod is subject to our unique Autoclave Technology for action retention.

The NCS action sits in between the Century NG and SP ranges. We have developed a process and carbon pattern configuration that delivers additional tip speed but retains a progressive C curve. Hence the name New Century Speed. All constructed in UK on the most advanced rod building machinery and in conformance with certified quality and environmental systems.

The NCS incorporates the new Century HB20 reel seat as a standard fit. This reel seat is made from a Fuji NPS with a modified 6262-T6 aluminium winch and screw. The winch is castellated to ensure long term durability and resist torsional forces when locking up the reel.. It is available in two colours - hard anodised clear or gunsmoke. The Century logo is laser engraved in the top of the reel seat

Now recognised as a cult rod and the benefits of the design are apparent to a wide range of specialist anglers. The types of carbon fibre we use are genuinely leading edge. The understated silk finish on the surface of the Century NG seals an incredibly complex arrangement of patterns designed to give the Carp angler the most advanced multi-range rod available. The carbon patterns are cut using a CAD CAM machine that holds extremely tight tolerances. This ensures the action and T/C is faithfully reproduced from rod to rod. Frank Warwick has spent thousands of hours fishing NG’s and we have feedback from every conceivable scenario likely to be encountered. Frank is recognised as an innovative and demanding angler who will take tackle to the limit. The tests we have completed on his early rods have indicated little or no test curve decay over a period of 3 years – clearly a benefit attributable to Autoclaving. The 12' and 13’ NG 3lb SU (Stepped Up) have proven extremely effective for medium to long range – without the use of shock leaders. These two models are configured with size 50 to 12 SiC lightweight guides.

One unique aspect to Century NG range is that test curves we allocate to each model represent the dynamic rating. They then play out a fish as though almost a pound lighter.

The early Armalites set a standard and trend that were regarded as truly legendary by specialists. The parabolic fighting curve and ease of use enabled us to use the expression “Perfect Players Rod” TM. There are still thousands of Armalites in use world-wide however we have been frequently approached by devotees who have requested that we capture the sprit of the original but bring the technology bang up to date. Much has progressed in modern composite technology and although the prey species has not evolved dramatically since the originals – tactics and expectations – certainly have moved on. The MK3 brings a fresh look at the principle of addressing the margins and middle distance. For smaller lakes where the conditions dictate a player’s rod the new MK3 fits the bill very well.

Using modern rod building techniques including Autoclaving and complex curved carbon fibre patterns – we can deliver an edge to the new MK3, optimising for that little bit more distance capability, resilience and resistance to test curve decay but still retain the action and “retro” look. To remain true to the original design we still utilise spigot joints – accurately fitted on our centreless grinder. The look and feel of the Armalite MK 3 with Al20 reel seat is visually very pleasing. The performance – is by any standards acceptable based on the heritage of a “Ten Ton Armalite” – not a reference to its weight but a 2 ¼lb T/C rod that accounted for over 10 tons of carp averaging 30’s, in a single season from St Lawrence – USA!

Every so often a rod comes along that represents genuine advances in materials and design technology. It truly delivers benefits and advantages previously not available. It stems from expert angler input and cutting edge manufacturing. The Century FS is such a rod.

Century had already established critical development work on FoCal System in UKSF Tournament casting scene. This casting arena is internationally recognised as the toughest and most demanding test of rod design and technology. Rods are hammered and proven: many have tried to succeed but only a few UK manufacturers can claim to belong to the exclusive club of consistent winners. This experience was miniaturised and then optimised in a carp rod. Frank Warwick took the design principal and over several prototypes honed the Century FS carp rod into the most effective PVA bag and Method rod. It features a complex but rewarding action that is progressive, forgiving and still capable of yielding breathtaking distance. Anglers have reported back significant distance improvements with little or no change in casting technique with conventional rigs and bags.

The Century NG is a Spod rod that hits the range you need when using a specialist Century rod like an FMJ, FS, SP, FBS or NG. Without the right tool you might well find yourself under casting to the range perimeter available on your main rigs. As the spod rod’s main function is to propel and not play – more emphasis and engineering can be placed on the casting side of the design equation. It is therefore possible to gain a degree of economy in the rod’s cost however there is no sacrifice in performance and the dynamics of a demanding cast and rapid retrieve rhythm - needed for effective spodding. Century rods hold the principal World casting distance records on 125, 150 and 175 grams at over 300 yards. We actively transfer technology from what we learn at Tournament held around the world.

The Century NG Spod is packed with power and internal carbon velocity accelerators that get the distance and enable a positive, quick return for the next cast. Repeat this scenario over hundred times during a full session and the virtues will be become apparent. One of the most vulnerable rods to test curve decay - is a Spod rod. You need the stability Autoclaving brings to a composite structure to avoid the performance sapping stresses spodding can generate in an ordinary rod over a very short amount of cycles. You would also be surprised how many aggressive sea species including large shark that have met their match with a Century NG Spod design!

A highly praised rod that sends the marker out proportionate to your main rig’s capability and a design that aids accuracy with special, built in anti torque features. Neat high vis pre-measured tyings on the butt allow for plumbing and feature finding. The construction process still depends on the special resin systems and advanced grades of carbon fibre that give range and feel. To enhance the feel for feature finding – we have adopted a faster taper than conventional rods. The tip sensitivity is superb.

The Century consultants have given us a continuos feedback and several improvements in the design are incorporated in 2005 models. It helps if you understand casting dynamics: it certainly helps to know how the design is applied. Completing this loop is just as important with these rods. Century has engaged all its experience and technology to give you the edge.

If you want to exploit a margin and a target carp at close range – T1 Century Stealth will give you an invaluable advantage. It has been designed from tip to butt as a complete working system. So often these types of rods are presented as cut down longer rods with compromise written all over them. This rod has been designed and approved by our consultants. A delightfully responsive tip blends into a cushioning mid section and then concludes with the parabolic action in the lower third – capable of arresting the quarry headlong on escape. We have used a staggered butt - tip configuration to maximise the action. In some respects – “retro” because many years ago even middle distances were adequately managed with 10’ rods. Rated at 2.50lb T/C to reflect the power zone available towards the lower section of the tip for control and a compliant butt section to absorb a lunge.

The upper tip has a slow taper to blend into the rest of the rod’s action and will enable good presentation of delicate baits. The blended action is responsive and avoids a hook pull, which is an unwanted feature of fast tippy action rods. There are dynamic anglers who know that hunting and searching out, close up and personal, is a pure adrenaline rush. Stalking a fish is an art form in its own right. The rewards are huge. Century has designed and built a specialist tool that will dominate a fish and reduce the prospect of a hook pull in this incredibly exciting and exacting activity. The tip engages in a satisfying and protective curve - cushioning the hook. The intricate carbon patterns are CAM cut after being designed by dedicated anglers, to create a truly responsive arc.

Angler led design in conjunction with cutting edge manufacturing technology. The 3.25lb T/C engages over the upper two thirds of the rod. The rod’s length, which is determined by its application, means that the lower third is effectively sheltered underneath the forearm.
