There is no angle to the head end and no built-in pillow. At home you sleep on a flat bed and build your head up with pillows so why not apply the same theory when sleeping on the bank? ‘Flip-Cam System’, which is a very special piece of innovation. All other bechairs, once unfolded, have the Cam’s pointing upwards and as we all know they are a real inconvenience. Not only do they get in the way (you are always knocking your elbows on them!) but they also reduce the width of the mattress that you can actually utilize as they push both sides up and in. This, however, is now a thing of the past as the Cam on the Flatliner swivels 180 degrees so that it points downwards – thus eliminating all of the annoying faults that us carp anglers have had to put up with for the past 25 years!
‘Twist-Lok’ legs, which can be operated with one hand. Simply twist the mechanism on the leg and the foot will fall into position. Then let go of the mechanism and it will automatically lock the leg into position – it couldn’t be easier! There are six large mud feed that also feature pegging holes should you fish without a groundsheet in your bivvy and wish to secure your bedchair firmly in position.
The Flatliner features a unique ‘Double Hinge Bracket’ on the foot-end that has been designed to create a void inside the bedchair when it is folded away. This therefore allows enough space for a sleeping bag to be folded inside. On all other bedchairs they achieve this by putting an angle in actual frame at the head end, which severely hinders your sleeping position and comfort as you cannot lie flat!
‘Even Flow’ Elastic has several benefits. Most other bedchairs use at least four lengths of elastic, where as the Flatliner only uses two, which start and finish at the head and foot ends and also run through the Cam (unlike any other bedchair on the market). This means that there are no sections of the mattress that are not elasticated, and therefore gives a much more consistent tension and firmer feel to the mattress. This once again greatly aids comfort as the mattress will not suffer from the ‘sagging’ that all other bedchairs currently fall foul of.
Mattress utilizes eyelets instead of the fabric loops used on other bedchairs. This is because the eyelets allow the elastic to stretch when you sit on the bedchair and then retract when you get off of it. This means on other bedchairs that use fabric loops the elastic becomes trapped and is not allowed to work as it is designed to therefore hindering your comfort! In addition the eyelets have been very carefully positioned around the perimeter of the mattress to ensure maximum support is achieved. The eyelets have been positioned as close as they can be to the legs without the legs trapping the elastic and damaging it, this is again vital in ensuring an even tension on the mattress so it remains consistently firm and offers unrivalled comfort.
The Flatliner features a high density foam mattress that is fleece covered and also a staggering 50mm deep! Once again further aiding to the comfort factor!
