As well as targeting the small southern river monsters the Barbel Xtra doubles up nicely as a big feeder rod on wider and deeper rivers like the Severn and the Trent.

The solid 1 ¾ lb tip is forgiving enough to use with the latest trend towards specialist braided lines which has now become the vogue method for bolt rig fishing with semi fixed leads on many of the tough southern rivers.

Fishing with non stretch braid is also ideal for trundling meat and touch legering in times of flood and heavy water conditions. The interchangeable quiver tip section comes into its own for upstream work where you would expect dropbacks and also absorbing debris and heavy current to ensure that the rig does not get moved out of position. This is a very serious rod for equally serious fish.

This is a delightful all round barbel rod to cover most of your leger and feeder work on both small and medium sized rivers. It is supplied with both a solid and push in quiver tip rated at 1 1/2 lb. The Barbel Duo-Lite has been designed to fish with feeders and legerweights up to 3 oz in weight and hook links as low as 4 lb breaking strains. Both tips are forgiving allowing you to use hooks down to about size 16 without fear of straightening or pulling. This is the perfect rod for pellet, boilie, particle and maggot work on rivers like the Avon, Stour, Kennet, Teme and even the Upper Severn.

The action is such that there is loads of hidden power to keep big fish under control whilst at the same time you have the assurance that you don't get smashed on small hooks and light links. The solid tip is just perfect for the traditional downstream work whilst the quiver tip section and its interchangeable tips are ideal for detecting upstream dropbacks as well as absorbing fluctuating currents and debris to ensure that the rig isn't dislodged.

Although this rod was originally designed with barbel in mind it is also ideally suited for stillwater long range feeder work when targeting species like tench and bream.
